We’re proud that Blue Q’s donations support environmental initiatives, small and large, from monitoring the health of the
river in our own backyard to reducing carbon emissions globally. And we’re proud of the fact that Blue Q bags are made
from 95% recycled material, turning used rice sacks and water bottles into beautiful, artful, useful objects.
One percent of the sale of every Blue Q bag supports environmental initiatives around the globe. Donations are shared
quarterly among multiple groups, ranging from the Clean Air Task Force, with its international scope, to the Housatonic
Valley Association, which does work in Blue Q’s literal backyard. Total donations since 2009 have surpassed $650,000.
The Clean Air Task Force is working to change technology and policies toward achieving a zero-emissions, high-energy planet and has carved out a unique role in the environmental and climate movement as a science-driven, solutions-focused and strategic organization.
The Housatonic Valley Association
protects the natural character and
environmental health of the
Housatonic River watershed, from
its source just north of Pittsfield to
Bridgeport, CT, where it empties
into the Long Island Sound
The Housatonic flows behind Blue Q’s building in Pittsfield,
which was built in 1919 as part of Eaton, Crane & Pike, a
stationary manufacturer.
