The 3rd annual Westside Super Soap Box Derby
Saturday was the 3rd annual Westside Super Soap Box Derby in our hometown of Pittsfield, MA!
The derby is hosted by Westside Legends, a community group focused on improving the quality of life in the West Side section of town. As partners with WSL, Blue Q and other local companies hosted car-building workshops for 90 local kids to assemble and decorate their cars a few weeks ago … and then a bunch of the kids came back this weekend for the big race!
Of course Blue Q participated in the race too, with our own car – and yes, it’s a bag of Cheetos. As you might expect we go for style not speed, and it paid off – we won Best in Show for Adults! Our daredevil driver Jana, from the New Product Development department, proudly displayed the trophy on her desk first-thing Monday morning.
This event just gets bigger and better every year. The turnout was great, including tons of Blue Q-ers who showed up to cheer and help out. We even had TWO cheetah costumes – Jana behind the wheel, and our Warehouse Manager Serg tossing out little bags of Cheetos to the crowd. Everyone had a great time, especially the kids – and that’s what it’s all about!
